Crisis Mode: The Catering Van Flat Tire
It was a gorgeous Saturday wedding. Everything was on track: the bride looked stunning, the guests were arriving, and the ceremony was just an hour away. Then my phone rang.
The caterer was on the highway with all the reception food when BAM flat tire. Stranded. No way to get to the venue on time.
Cue planner mode.
I immediately called the caterer to assess the situation. A new van was already en route, but it would take at least 45 minutes to reach the stalled van.
Reworked the entire wedding itinerary on the fly to buy time.
Coordinated with the DJ to shift the cocktail hour into high gear, keeping guests entertained with extra music and drinks.
Checked with the venues staff to delay the dinner setup discreetly so no one noticed the hold-up.
By the time the second van reached the stranded one, we had adjusted everything so that when the food finally arrived just in time it felt like it was all part of the plan. Guests had no idea there had been a near disaster.
